I’m fully convinced that Amy Harmon can do no wrong. Her latest release, The Unknown Beloved is a twist on her usual historical fiction and follows Michael Malone and Dani Flanagan as they attempt to solve a set of murders in Chicago in the 1930’s. It’s profound, deeply romantic, and absolutely unputdownable.
I especially loved how Amy brought life to Michael, an actual FBI agent who helped take down Al Capone and is otherwise an extremely elusive figure in criminal history. It added such depth to the story and made me mourn the characters, not just the world, once I’d turned the last page.
Anyone who has read and enjoyed The Nightingale, From Sand and Ash (my personal favorite historical piece), or Staking Jack the Ripper should consider picking this one up! Amy Harmon never disappoints.
