The Life we Almost Had by Amelia Henley

The Life we Almost Had follows a married couple facing hardships within their marriage of five years. Styled in a dual timeline, the story shows readers what life was like at the start of their relationship compared to what transpires now that their marriage is on the rocks.

What initially drew me to this novel was the prospect of it being a great beach read. And while it did provide that, I wouldn’t file it under your classical summertime TBR.

The Life We Almost Had is a bittersweet story about the strange inner-workings of love, life, and loss, and how one most surely always has to do with another. It features a cast of complex, relatable characters and a twist you won’t see coming.

it’s important to go into this novel with an open mind, as well as an open heart. I, for the main part, went in blind and found that it heightened the events of the story for me.

those who are open to reading an unexpected love story that will pull at all your heartstrings a la The Notebook style should definitely pick up The Life we Almost Had on their next trip to the bookstore! Tissues recommended!
